- 1 cup maftoul corn-based, gluten-free
- 2 cups plant-based milk e.g., almond, soy, oat - added based on context from preparation steps
- A pinch of salt optional
- 1 teaspoon honey for sweetness
- Fresh fruit as desired (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, banana, kiwi, mango, peaches)
- Nuts as desired (chopped, e.g., almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds
- A pinch of ground cinnamon
In a medium-sized pot, combine the corn maftoul, plant-based milk, and a pinch of salt.
Let the mixture come to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the maftoul has absorbed most of the liquid and becomes tender.
For sweetness: Add the honey and stir gently. Let the maftoul cool completely.
Divide the maftoul into serving bowls and top with your favorite fresh fruit pieces.
Garnish with the chopped nuts, chia or flax seeds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
