Areekah
Southern 'Areekah' is a popular Saudi dessert with a delicious taste, often served on special occasions.
- 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 cups White Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- Honey to taste
- Samneh Ghee, as needed
- Water as needed (for the dough)
- Cornflakes for garnish (optional)
- Nuts for garnish (optional)
Mix the flour and add the salt and two cups of warm water to the pot.
Gradually add the flour to prevent clumping until the dough reaches a consistency like cake batter. If you notice the dough becoming too stiff, add more water as needed.
Stir the dough and place a portion of it in a pan over low heat until it cooks like bread. Once cooked, place it in a container. After all the "bread" is cooked, knead it together in the container until it becomes smooth.
Make a well in the center and add the honey and ghee. Serve garnished with nuts and cornflakes as desired.
