Southern Areekah is a popular Saudi dessert with a delicious taste, often served on special occasions. It is rich in vitamins that provide the body with energy and strength. This dessert is especially served with Arabic coffee & is considered a very distinctive, nutritious, & excellent source of energy. Methods of making it vary from one region to another, but they all share a delightful taste.

Southern 'Areekah' is a popular Saudi dessert with a delicious taste, often served on special occasions.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 cups White Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- Honey to taste
- Samneh Ghee, as needed
- Water as needed (for the dough)
- Cornflakes for garnish (optional)
- Nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the flour and add the salt and two cups of warm water to the pot.
- Gradually add the flour to prevent clumping until the dough reaches a consistency like cake batter. If you notice the dough becoming too stiff, add more water as needed.
- Stir the dough and place a portion of it in a pan over low heat until it cooks like bread. Once cooked, place it in a container. After all the "bread" is cooked, knead it together in the container until it becomes smooth.
- Make a well in the center and add the honey and ghee. Serve garnished with nuts and cornflakes as desired.
