Barley bread is high in fiber and protein, making it a healthy choice for a diet when eaten in moderation.
Ingredients
- 100 g cooked barley
- 400 g flour
- 3 g dry yeast
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons honey
- Warm water as needed
Instructions
- In a deep bowl, place the barley, flour, salt, yeast, and honey. Mix the ingredients well until combined.
- Gradually add warm water while kneading for about 10 minutes, until you get a soft and cohesive dough.
- Place the dough in an oil-greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest for about two and a half hours until it rises and doubles in size.
- Punch the dough to release the air, then knead it again. Place it on a baking sheet, cover it with a cotton cloth, and let it rest for an additional hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and put it in the oven for 40 minutes until the bread is fully cooked.
- Let the barley bread cool before serving.
