Here is a healthy and tasty homemade bread recipe that makes the most of this grain.
Ingredients
- Wheat flour: 600 grams
- Barley: 150 grams
- Bran: 30 grams
- Instant yeast: 3/4 tablespoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Warm water: 1 1/4 cups
Instructions
- Put the barley in a bowl, cover it with cold water, and set it aside until the barley absorbs the water.
- Mix the yeast with the warm water and set the mixture aside until it becomes frothy.
- Add the barley mixture to the yeast. Then, add the wheat flour, bran, and salt. Mix everything until a dough forms.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized rounds. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover with a cloth, and let them rest for one hour.
- Preheat the oven to a medium temperature.
- Take one piece of dough, roll it out on a flat surface, and place it on the prepared baking tray. Bake in the oven until cooked through.
- Remove the bread from the oven and place it on a plate.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough. Serve the bread warm or at room temperature.
